Local knowledge
Sand, salt and not much room to work
Destin is a different job from Bay County. The soil is sand, which means trees hold differently — a pine that looks solid can have a root plate with far less grip than the same tree twenty miles inland, and that shows up in a strong onshore wind. Salt carried in off the Gulf also burns foliage on anything not suited to it, so we see a lot of stressed ornamentals and half-dead planting that was never going to cope in an exposed position.
The other defining feature is space, or the lack of it. Between houses in Crystal Beach and along the older streets there is often barely room to walk a section of trunk out, let alone reverse a chipper in. That is a rigging and carrying job, and it is worth telling us about the access when you call, because it affects the price more than the tree does.
A large share of Destin property is rented out for at least part of the year. Turnovers, clearouts between guests, and hauling off furniture that has reached the end of its life are steady work for us here.
What is different about working in Destin
Palms, not just trees
Fronds, seed pods and boots cleared without over-pruning the crown. We do not do hurricane cuts — stripping a palm back to a spike weakens it.
Access first
Narrow side returns and no kerbside space change the job more than the tree does. Mention your access when you call and the estimate will be closer.
Rental turnovers
Furniture, mattresses and general clearouts between lets, worked around your booking calendar where we can.

Questions
Destin — common questions
Do you actually cover Destin, or just Bay County?
We cover Destin properly. Okaloosa County is one of our four service counties and Destin is one of the places we travel for most often.
Should palms be cut back hard before hurricane season?
No. Stripping a palm back to a spike removes the fronds it needs and leaves it weaker, not stronger. We clear dead fronds, seed pods and boots and leave the crown intact.
There is no room for a truck at my place. Is that a problem?
It is common here and it is not a problem, but it does change the price, because sections have to be carried out by hand rather than chipped on the spot. Tell us about the access up front and the estimate will be accurate.
Can you work around my rental bookings?
Where we can, yes. Give us the window between guests and we will tell you honestly whether the job fits inside it.
My association has rules about tree removal. Can you work with that?
Yes. Tell us what your association requires and we will work to it. Any permissions needed from them are yours to obtain, but we can provide details of the work for the application.
What payment do you take?
Card, cash, Cash App and Venmo, with financing available on larger jobs.
