Tree Removal in Panama City, FL
Whole trees taken down safely on tight older lots, over roofs and beside power drops — sectioned, rigged and hauled off, with the ground left clear.
The local picture
Panama City is still working through Michael
Hurricane Michael came ashore in October 2018 and Bay County lost an enormous number of trees outright. What we deal with now, years later, is the second wave: pines and laurel oaks that survived the storm but were damaged in it, and have been declining quietly ever since. A tree that looks alive from the street can have a dead top, a split fork or root damage that only shows when you get up into it.
That is the single most common removal we do in Panama City. Not a dead tree — a compromised one that the owner has been unsure about for a couple of years.
What makes it harder here
Old streets, big trees, not much room
- The Cove and St. Andrews. Mature live oaks and water oaks planted long before the houses were extended. Often no way to fell anything — it comes down in pieces, roped.
- Overhead power. A lot of the older streets have the drop running straight through the canopy. That changes the method and it changes the price.
- Access. Narrow side gates and shared drives mean the chipper often cannot get near the tree. Carrying distance is real work and we would rather price it honestly up front.
How we work
What the day actually looks like
We look at where the weight is and where it can safely go before anything is cut. If there is room, sections come down on ropes. If there is not, a climber takes it in small pieces and we lower each one. Brush goes through the chipper, the wood is cut and loaded, and the ground gets raked and blown.
Stump left or ground out is your call — grinding it at the same visit is cheaper than bringing the machine back. If the tree is over the house, the dangerous and overhanging page explains how we rig those.
Questions
Panama City — common questions
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Panama City?
Rules vary by parcel and by what the tree is, and they can differ inside city limits versus unincorporated Bay County. We will tell you if we think a permit is likely to be needed and point you at the right office, but the permit is the property owner’s to obtain.
Can you get to a tree in the back garden?
Usually. If the gate is too narrow for the chipper we carry the brush out, which costs more in time but is normal here. We will tell you at the estimate.
What happens to the wood?
It leaves with us unless you want it. Say so before we start and we will cut the rounds to length and stack them where you want them.
How quickly can you come out?
Depends on the week. For a tree that is actively unsafe, call and we will tell you honestly — see emergency tree service.
Is my tree definitely dead?
Not always, and we will say so. Some pines that look finished after a bad season push new growth. We would rather come back next year than take a tree that did not need taking.
